International Sports Timing lane speakers

International Sports Timing (IST), a division of Industrial Service Technology, Inc., sold its lane speakers as the Under Block Speaker System, an accessory to its portable SWIMSTART Electronic Start.¹ The company described the system as putting a speaker under each block so that every swimmer has the same advantage on the start.¹ IST does not disclose who makes the speaker or publish an impedance figure, and as of 2026 the under-block products no longer appear in the company’s current catalog.² Shared background on lane speakers is in the external-speakers overview.

Design and construction¶

The system was cataloged under SKU SPKRBLOCK-6, with the lane cable made in six-, eight-, and ten-lane versions (SPKRBLOCK-6, -8, and -10).¹³ The individual speaker, sold separately as a replacement under SKU SPEAKER6W, is a 6 watt, 120 dB unit with a connecting cable that plugs into the SPKRBLOCK lane cable and mounts underneath the starting block.³

The product pages were live through 2024, but IST’s current catalog no longer lists the under-block system or the replacement speaker, so the line’s status is unclear.¹²
