Superior Swim Timing lane speakers

Superior Swim Timing (SST) sells a lane speaker and matching multi-lane speaker harnesses as accessories to its Atlantis Swimming Starter System, which drives a full set of lane speakers in addition to its built-in speaker.¹² The products are sold directly by SST and through SwimNerd, whose store lists them alongside SST’s timing systems.³⁴ SST does not publish the lane speaker’s wattage, impedance, or manufacturer, so this article is limited to what the listings state. Design and construction¶

The SST Lane Speaker is an under-block speaker that connects to the start system through an SST speaker harness, sold in six-, eight-, and ten-lane versions.²⁴ SST describes the speaker as delivering high-output audio to each lane and the harness as a waterproof deck cable with waterproof connectors, which the company says extends the service life of both the harness and the speakers; these durability claims are the vendor’s own.³⁴ The speakers plug into the harness, and the harness plugs into the start system.³

Specifications¶

SST publishes no electrical specifications for the lane speaker or harness: no power rating, impedance, frequency range, sound-pressure level, or OEM. The only cataloged facts are the product names and the harness lane counts.²³ This distinguishes the line from the Colorado Time Systems and Daktronics equivalents, whose Fourjay OEM horn has a published datasheet.
